When I moved from New York State to Dallas in the summer of 2014, the first story I was assigned to produce was the Houston home of interior designer Anita Joyce, whose blog, Cedar Hill Farmhouse, has a large and loyal following. Our photo shoot for Country French magazine took place in October 2014, and it was so much fun to prop and style using Anita's beautiful collections. I also had the pleasure of shooting for the first time with the talented Austin-based photographer Ryann Ford. A few months later, I had the opportunity to shoot a gorgeous home in Dallas' University Park neighborhood designed by Mary Beth Wagner of AvreaWagner Interiors. Mary Beth and I pretty much styled the bookshelves in the library from scratch, with art books and accessories from Mecox and Blueprint boutiques here in Dallas. When we were shooting the library, the photographer, Brian McWeeney, and I decided that the game table and built-in bookshelves would make a beautiful shot, so we added that to the mix (and I was secretly crossing my fingers that it would frame up quite nicely as a cover...)
In late summer, I found out that BOTH locations made the cover of their respective magazines - Country French (Fall 2015 issue) and Decor (Fall/Winter 2015) - published by Meredith Special Interest Publications. I am so thrilled to have two cover stories on newsstands at the same time - and am equally excited for the designers to have their work showcased in such a prominent way. Welcome to Texas - there's a lot of really great design here!!
